WHAT IS HAPPENING IN AFGHANISTAN?

In Afghanistan, where 4 million 700 thousand people live, thousand of people have lost their lives and tens of thousands of people have been injured due to the conflicts that have been going on for years in the region, and 29 million 200 thousand people are in need of humanitarian aid due to the difficult living conditions. Approximately 1 million 300 thousand people who had to leave their places of residence due to both internal and external migrations are forced to continue their lives in other regions. 22 million 800 thousand people in the region are struggling with hunger by not being able to access sufficient and safe food; 3 million 900 thousand women and children suffer from malnutrition.

Following the 6.3 magnitude earthquake that occurred in Herat province of Afghanistan on October 7, 2 thousand 53 people have died and 9 thousand 240 people have been injured so far; search and rescue efforts are still continuing.

As a result of earthquake, which caused destruction in many parts of the country, the people had to leave their homes and the region they lived in; they became unable to provide their basic needs. Humanitarian aid support is needed in the region for issues such as shelter and food.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We are carrying our humanitarian aid activities in Afghanistan, ignoring the humanitarian crisis that has been going on for years. Since January 2020, we have been fighting malnutrition disease caused by hunger in our 18 nutrition health centers located in 15 different regions of Afghanistan and providing nutritional treatment for this disease. In addition, we offer examination and nutrition therapy services. We also deliver to those in need, especially pregnant/breastfeeding moher in rural areas, with our 11 mobile health teams in the region.

We carried out 192 thousand examinations and 27 thousand 128 treatment in 2023 within our nutritional health centers in Afghanistan.

We continue our support to the region even after the earthquake on October 7. First of all, we provide humanitarian aid materials such as hygiene kits, baby formula and food to the people of the region in order to provide urgent needs.
