WHAT IS HAPPENING?

One of the problems in the field of health is that the health training programs are insufficient in countries, especially the one with low-income. There are 168 medical faculties in 47 sub-Saharan African countries. While there is no medical faculty in 11 of these countries, there is only one in 24 countries.

This situation leads to insufficiency of qualified health workers and increasing of health problems. For instance, 90% of maternal deaths occurring at birth and 80% of dead births occur in 58 countries with low-income, and it is observed that there is a lack of trained midwives in these countries.

WHAT DO WE DO?

Yeryüzü Doktorları works on increasing the capacity of healthcare practitioners in the aid-receiving countries through supporting trainings, certifications and internship programs at associate, undergraduate and graduate levels. In addition, it contributes to scientific research and activities by organizing scientific congresses tackling various medical topics.
